Town hall on measure 20-198 and amendment language

We held a town hall meeting on the evening of October 24, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church (1376 Olive Street, Eugene).

We will be discussed measure 20-198, an advisory vote by the citizens of Eugene asking “Shall Congress send to States constitutional amendment reversing negative impact of the Citizens United case and limit independent campaign spending?”  More broadly, we  discussed what should be included in a Constitutional Amendment to address the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United decision and other decisions that have weakened our democracy.  We also discussed what are the dangers of an amendment, and what language should be used to address those dangers.
